The Toowong and District Historical Society Inc. meets monthly on the fourth Friday of the month from January to November.
Monthly meetings feature a guest speaker on topics of historical interest and have included family histories, guest speakers from various historical institutions, book talks by published historians, biographies, the history of other areas, local community organisations, schools and churches, and a wide variety of other topics.
Everyone is welcome to stay and enjoy the morning tea which follows the presentation.
Our Meetings are held at the West Toowong Bowls Club, Bywong Street, Toowong. Please note that the West Toowong Bowls Club bar opens at 11.00 am and snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.

The history of ‘Dovercourt’, Sherwood Road, Toowong.
TDHS welcomes guest speaker Harold Peacock, the historian retained by the new owners of ‘Dovercourt’, the heritage house in Sherwood Rd previously owned by the Bigge family and in which 4 generations of the family have lived since the 1920s.
Harold has also just released his latest book on the history of Dovercourt and the book will be available for sale at the meeting.
